The "I got your back" Parenting

"Derick wants me to go to a "Slipknot" concert in Chicago" my man child recently said to me on the drive home from school.
"Really" I said, trying with all my might not to scream NNOOOO!
"He wants to go in the mosh pit"
I say, "Where are they playing, that makes a difference?"
"Mom, people die in mosh pits"
I say "I know"
"I'm still competing for Track and Football work outs are starting soon." He says
"I also am really looking forward to the Track Camp coming up"
I say "Yup"
"Just tell me I can't go, because I don't want to go anyway"
I smile with relief and quickly say, "You can't go"
It's always better when it's their idea. And when they can rely on you to say no:)

Ha! That's great. I love it when kids show us they are growing up and making wise decisions! A mother's greatest wish...congratulations.
